The All India Institute of Medical Sciences are a chain of pioneer medical institutes in India set up by the Government of India to deliver quality healthcare , provide medical and paramedical education of the highest standards, and produce cutting edge research. This journal being from an ‘institute of national importance’ will probably attract contributions from eminent faculty, residents and students whose research output may have high impact on generating evidence towards improving the quality of our healthcare
India will soon have 21 AIIMS throughout the country and we will expect contributions from our ‘sister’ institutes as well. This will not only increase the quantity and quality of papers available submitted to us, but also add to the number of reviewers available for our journal.
At AIIMS Rishikesh, we have now have more than 300 faculty members who are undertaking both extramural and intramural research projects some of which yield important results.
We also get more than 200 theses done by residents doing MD, MS, DM, MCh, PhD, PDCC and MPH every year. Some of these are of high quality and are potential articles to consider for publication,. Similar contributions may come from other AIIMS in this country.
Presently AIIMS, Rishikesh has signed more than 30 memoranda of understanding (MOU) with several universities in India and abroad. These include University of Colorado Denver, Cornell University for and on behalf of Weill Cornell Medicine, New York; Shock Trauma Centre, Baltimore; Ram Bam Medical Campus Israel; George Washington University; PGIMER Chandigarh; Tata Memorial Hospital Mumbai; NIMHANS Bengaluru; SGPGIMS Lucknow; NIHFW New Delhi; IIT Roorkee; CSIR-IITR Lucknow; Patanjali University Haridwar, etc. and many more are in process to boost culture of sharing resources and working on common goals for betterment of society. It will also provide us a large pool of scientists as editorial board members, national and international advisory board members and reviewers of submitted manuscripts for peer review.
The Journal of Medical Evidence(JME) will be a peer reviewed journal from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences(AIIMS), Rishikesh one of premier academic healthcare centres in India. Its Editorial Board is comprised of many national and international stalwarts in the field of medical practice, education and training and research.
We will publish articles that are of a high quality, which address issues which are relevant worldwide but mainly in developing countries and which are original, academically sound and important. These articles will be chosen through a robust and efficient peer review process which is not destructive but aims at helping our authors to improve the quality of their submissions.
Our scope is fairly narrow. Any articles that will contribute towards improving healthcare in our region and beyond will be welcome especially those which contain original ideas which are especially relevant to us. The articles will have to meet one or all three of three criteria - they must inform, educate and entertain.
Our broad aim is to publish articles of the highest level to promote evidence based medicine.
We will cover a wide range of subjects including medical education, basic health sciences, public health, clinical practice of broad and super specialties, hospital administration, history of medicine, surgery and medical schools and any others related to improving healthcare for our own country and for the world.
